Phishing Emails Containing Malware May Be in Your Inbox

Several agents have reported receiving phishing emails enticing them to open the attachment – DO NOT CLICK ON THE ATTACHMENT! ARC has confirmed that the email below contains an attachment (removed from the example) with malware. What is malware? Malware, spyware and viruses are unwanted software that is installed on your PC or Network without your knowledge or consent. Each is designed to either damage your computer or network or to take control of it – often gathering personal/business information and sending the information to the criminal's computers.

Q: What should you do now?

A: Ask employees and independent contractors if they received this email and opened/clicked on the attachment. If they received the email and opened/clicked the attachment (or don't remember if they did), run your updated malware protection and/or engage a computer expert in your community to assist you.

Q: What should you do to protect your PCs and Networks?

A: Since there is no one system or program that will protect your computers, use a layered approach to security and regularly update those systems and programs to prevent the latest threats. Malware, spyware and viruses change all the time so you need to implement appropriate and updated procedures and systems to prevent unauthorized access to your PCs and networks.

  • Use and monitor a firewall
  • Regularly use active and updated malware, spyware and virus protection
  • Update your operating systems with current security updates
  • Update applications with all current security patches
  • Enable anti-phishing ability through your browser
  • Mandate complex passwords (e.g., upper/lower case letters, symbols and numbers, no proper names, initials, words, etc.)
  • Secure your network to prevent unauthorized access to proprietary and sensitive information including names, addresses, date of birth and credit card information

Southern Airways Express Joins ARC

Southern Airways Express (9X/677) will join ARC as a participating carrier effective with sales on March 2, 2015 (PED 03/08/15).

Southern Airways Express is a Memphis-based, all Business Class air carrier flying luxury-appointed Cessna Caravan aircraft and serving nine cities in the southern United States with hubs in Memphis (MEM), Tennesse; Atlanta (PDK), Georgia; and Destin (DSI), Florida. Other destinations include Jackson/Madison (DXE), Missouri; Oxford (UOX), Missouri; New Orleans (NEW), Louisiana (seasonal), Knoxville (TYS), Tennessee; Chattanooga (CHA), Tennessee; and Panama City (ECP), Florida (seasonal).

Southern Airways Express operates scheduled service for discriminating business and leisure travelers, with all flights departing from private terminals and/or executive airports. The carrier charges no baggage or parking fees and features convenient 20-minute check-in times.

Southern Airways Express has selected the General Concurrence method of agent appointment whereby all ARC agents are automatically appointed as agents of Southern Airways Express, unless specifically advised to the contrary by the carrier.

The airline is available in the Sabre GDS and currently accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and cash as the only forms of payment.

Final Deletion of Frontier Airlines in ARC

As previously announced, Frontier Airlines (F9/422) will voluntary delete from ARC effective March 7, 2015 (March 6 at midnight). Please submit all F9/422 transactions in your IAR prior to that time. After March 7, 2015, refunds should be submitted directly to Frontier Airlines for processing. For further information, please contact Frontier Airlines directly at:

Final Deletion of Cyprus Airways in ARC

ARC will close the processing of all Cyprus Airways (CY/048) transactions in IAR, including refunds, effective March 9, 2015 (PED 03/15/15). Should you have any questions regarding Cyprus Airlines refunds, please contact the carrier directly at Cyprus Airways.


2012 ARC Transaction History File Now Available

ARC's Transaction History File containing your organization's transaction data for all of 2012 is now available on CD. Beginning in April 2015, ARC will begin purging the oldest data from ARC's Document Retrieval Service (DRS), which provides online access to the past 39 months of your ticketed transaction data.

ARC's Transaction History File provides you with your settled and voided transaction information for all PEDs in 2012. It comes equipped with free viewer software that allows you to easily search for a specific transaction, view it on screen and print it onto a single page. Plus, the software is self-contained—there's nothing to install.

You can import the Transaction History File into several software programs, such as Microsoft Excel and Access, to create reports and manage, sort and analyze the data as needed.

Tip of the Week: ARC's Travel Agency Service Fee (TASF) Program

Did you know that the ARC Travel Agency Service Fee (TASF) program allows you to:

  • Accept payment using any major credit card, including UATP for any travel-related charge, from service fees to tour deposits
  • Settle your transactions electronically through ARC via your weekly IAR sales report
  • Access your transaction data for 39 months through ARC's Document Retrieval Service (DRS)
  • Have the option of processing TASF transactions via your GDS, independent of your GDS transactions using ARC's credit card processing tool (Agent's Choice)
