Maya Island Air Now Accepts Visa and MasterCard

Effective with sales issued on Monday, April 7, 2014 (PED 04/13/14), Maya Island Air (391/MY) will begin accepting Visa and MasterCard as forms of payment through ARC.

2014 Quarterly Transaction Fees – First Quarter

This is a reminder about the agent/CTD transaction fee that is assessed on a quarterly basis. In 2014, the quarterly fee is set at $0.017 per transaction. An agency reporting an aggregate of less than 1,000 transactions per quarter will not be assessed a transaction fee. The maximum number of transactions for which an agency can be charged in a quarter is 2.25 million transactions (per entity). A separate debit representing this fee will be drawn against your ARC designated bank account on or after April 24, 2014. Only one draft will be issued for consolidated drafting agents.

Quarterly Subscription Fee: Travel Agency Service Fees

This is a reminder that the $23.99 quarterly subscription fee (first quarter of 2014, PEDs 01/05/14 through 03/30/14) for travel agency service fees will be debited from your designated ARC account on or after Thursday, April 17, 2014.

Only those locations that issued a travel agency service fee in the quarter will be charged the fee. If your agency is signed up for the travel agency service fee service but remained inactive during the quarter, there will be no quarterly fee charged.

Best Practices for Unauthorized/Stolen Tickets

Unauthorized/stolen tickets continue to plague agents of all types and sizes. In an effort to further reduce—and eliminate—this kind of activity, ARC has worked with representatives of GDSs, including Amadeus, Sabre and Travelport, to develop some preventative measures and best practices. Travel agents, including corporate travel departments and ARC accredited Verified Travel Consultants (VTCs), should consider implementing these best practices for IT security and to better identify and prevent future unauthorized/stolen tickets.

Tip of the Week: Want to Become Ticketless?

With industry changes resulting in e-tickets becoming so prevalent, many agents have decided to go ticketless. Another common reason agents decide to make this change is to avoid the cost and downtime of repairing or replacing a broken ticket printer.

One benefit of becoming an Electronic Office (EO) is eliminating the need to order paper ticket stock. In addition, becoming ticketless means that you no longer need manual documents such as four flights, paper tickets for infants or agent travel, Prepaid Ticket Advice, etc.

To become an EO, submit a request to change the office classification via the accreditation tool. The fee for this change is $75. ARC will supply Stock Control Numbers (SCN's) for an EO upon request.
