Malware, Spyware and Viruses: Protect Your Computers and Networks Today!

Malware, spyware and viruses are unwanted software that is installed on your computer or network without your knowledge or consent. Each is designed to either damage your computer or network or take control of it—often gathering personal or business information and sending that information to the criminal's computer. Malware, spyware and viruses change all the time, so it is recommended that you implement appropriate and updated procedures and systems to prevent unauthorized access to your computers and networks.

Since there is no one system or program that will protect your computers, use a layered approach to security and regularly update those systems and programs to prevent the latest threats.

  • Use and monitor a firewall.
  • Regularly use active and updated malware, spyware and virus protection.
  • Update your operating systems with current security updates.
  • Update applications with all current security patches.
  • Enable anti-phishing ability through your browser.
  • Mandate complex passwords (e.g. upper/lowercase letters, symbols and numbers, no proper names, initials, words, etc.).
  • Secure your network to prevent unauthorized access to proprietary and sensitive information, including names and addresses, and your date of birth and credit card information.

Take time today to review your information security policy, and if you need help, engage a computer expert in your community to assist you.


2011 ARC Transaction History File Now Available

ARC's Transaction History File containing your organization's transaction data for all of 2011 is now available on CD. Please keep in mind that ARC's Document Retrieval Service (DRS) provides online access to only the past 39 months of ticketed transaction data.

ARC's Transaction History File provides you with your settled and voided transaction information for all PEDs in 2011. It comes equipped with free viewer software that allows you to easily search for a specific transaction, view it on screen and print it onto a single page. Plus, the software is self-contained—there's nothing to install!

You can import the Transaction History File into several popular software programs, such as Microsoft Excel and Access, in order to create reports, manage, sort and analyze the data as you please. Tip of the Week: ARC Auto Submission of an IAR "No Sales" Report

If an IAR Sales Report does not contain any transactions (has no activity) and has not been authorized/submitted by the 11:59 p.m. EST deadline, ARC will automatically submit a "No Sales" report on your behalf. However, actual confirmation of ARC's auto submission of that sales report does not appear in IAR until after 1:00 a.m., when the system goes down for routine maintenance.

If you are reviewing your sales report between 11:59 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. and notice that your sales report has not been auto-submitted, please do not take any action. Agent submission of any sales report after the 11:59 p.m. submission deadline will be treated by the system as a late authorization. The agency will not be penalized for any un-submitted No Sales report that becomes auto-authorized by ARC.
