Sneaky Fraudsters Continue to Contact Agents and Contractors

Email Solicitations for Business

Agents continue to receive emails from fraudsters pretending to solicit support for their company's corporate business travel. At first, the fraudster will request a benign point-to-point domestic ticket (straw purchase), using a credit card, usually for future travel - sometimes for as soon as the next day. Then he/she will purchase tickets for other passengers. The itineraries will include international gateways (usually to/from West African airports, e.g., ACC, DKR, CMN, LOS), and additional credit cards will be offered as payment. Details may even be provided about why the passenger needs an immediate ticket, and the details may fit into an international company profile. The fraudster may provide passports, driver's licenses and credit cards, all of which are compromised. Send such solicitations to ARC's Fraud Prevention team for review. We may be able to advise you of potential or confirmed fraud!

Calling to Confirm your ARC/IATA Number

Agents, staff and independent contractors have reported receiving calls from a man (pretending to be from a GDS, an airline, or tour company/supplier) asking to confirm agency information - specifically your ARC/IATA Number. The fraudster then uses your agency information (agency name, address, phone number and ARC Number) to sign up to use carrier or tour company/supplier portals, which may allow direct ticketing, invoicing, etc. If you get such a call, ask questions, identify the caller ID, or request a phone number to call back. Agents who have pushed back or asked questions claim that the caller gets frustrated and hangs up. Do NOT provide your ARC Number to anyone who calls you. If you receive unfamiliar ticket confirmations or invoices/commissions from suppliers, or see unfamiliar tickets in your IAR report, contact the airline or tour company/supplier to question the transactions, and contact ARC's Fraud Prevention team for other important information or instructions.

2013 Quarterly Transaction Fees - Third Quarter

This is a reminder about the agent/CTD transaction fee that is assessed on a quarterly basis. In 2013, the quarterly fee is set at $0.016 per transaction. An agency reporting an aggregate of less than 1,000 transactions per quarter will not be assessed a transaction fee. The maximum number of transactions for which an agency can be charged in a quarter is 2.25 million transactions (per entity). A separate debit representing this fee will be drawn against your ARC designated bank account on or after October 24. Only one draft will be issued for consolidated drafting agents.

If you have any questions, please contact the Customer Care Center at (855) 816-8003 or

Please note that the maximum commission amount allowed on any document in IAR is $9,999.99. Any time the commission exceeds the $9,999.99 limit, you will receive an error message: INVALID COMMISSION - EXCEEDS MAXIMUM AMOUNT ALLOWED.

If you are attempting to collect a commission amount that exceeds the IAR limit, the single transaction will need to be split into multiple transactions.

For example, if you issue a group deposit with a $90,000 MCO with a commission amount of $18,000, you must split the commission into two MCOs (for example, $9,000 commission each), instead of issuing one MCO with $18,000 commission. If you do not wish to split a transaction into multiple MCOs to accommodate the commission limits in IAR, you must process the transaction(s) with the carrier directly.
