Norwegian Air Shuttle Joins ARC

Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA/Norwegian Long Haul AS will join the ARC as a participating carrier effective with sales today, April 15th (PED April 21, 2013).

With headquarters in Oslo, Norway, Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, commercially branded "Norwegian," is a public low-cost airline listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The company is the second largest airline in Scandinavia, the third largest low-cost airline in Europe, and has a route portfolio that stretches across Europe into North Africa and the Middle East. Norwegian operates today Boeing 737-300 and 737-800, and soon the 787-8 Dreamliner for the Long Haul operation including US routes to Scandinavia. 17.7 million passengers flew with the airline in 2012. Norwegian operates more than 350 routes to over 120 destinations and has approximately 3,000 employees.

Norwegian has elected the General Concurrence method of agent appointment, whereby all ARC agents are automatically appointed as agents of Norwegian unless otherwise notified by the carrier. Norwegian will initially accept cash as the only form of payment but will add credit cards in the near future.

Tiara Air Aruba Accepts Visa and MasterCard

Effective with sales issued on Monday, April 15 (PED April 21, 2013), Tiara Air Aruba (253/3P) will begin accepting Visa and MasterCard as forms of payment through ARC.


Quarterly Subscription Fee: Travel Agency Service Fees

Just a reminder that the first $23.99 quarterly subscription fee of 2013 (January 1 - March 31, 2013) for travel agency service fees will be debited from your designated ARC account on or after Thursday, April 18.

Only locations that issued a travel agency service fee in the previous quarter will be charged the fee. If your agency is signed up for the travel agency service fee service but remained inactive during the quarter, there will be no quarterly fee charged.

Updated Section 8 of the Industry Agents Handbook

ARC recently published an updated Section 8 of the Industry Agents Handbook, which includes information about credit card acceptance, updates to the ARC credit card chargeback policy, and most importantly, information about best practices for credit card acceptance and the associated risk management.

Fraud in the travel industry continues to be a challenge to manage. Given that a large majority of transactions are card not present, the information required to support a transaction (like a signed and imprinted charge form) is unavailable. Therefore, merchants, including travel agents, must manage and evaluate the risk by using various tools available. The updated Section 8 outlines many of these tools and provides other information to assist travel agents in making informed decisions about credit card acceptance.

ARC Specialist Training and Examination Session at Sabre's Travel Technology Exchange (TTX) Conference

Do you want the opportunity to earn or renew your ARC Specialist Certificate!

Now you can renew your ARC Specialist Certificate for the discounted rate of $300 at Sabre's TTX conference in New Orleans! The class will be held from April 29 - May 1.

ARC developed the ARC Specialist Program with the help of industry representatives from the travel agent and carrier communities. This program provides education on ARC's policies, procedures, products, and services. Students participate in written and verbal exercises in addition to group discussions.

A certificate of training will be presented at the end of the session.

Tip of the Week: ARC Document Ordering System Searches

Do you know that you can search for previous ticket stock orders in the Document Ordering System (DOS)? To search for previous ticket stock orders:

  • Log into DOS.
  • On the left side of the home page, click the Order Status button.
  • Select an option from the Search By drop down menu.
  • Click the All Orders radio button.
  • Enter appropriate information in the Search Criteria field.
  • Click the Search button.

Please use standard searches for less than 45 days orders. If you need to access more than 45 days, please click the Advanced Search link. If you need orders more than two years, please contact ARC's Customer Care Center for assistance at (855) 816-8003 or ccchelp@arccorp.com.
