Notice of My ARC and IAR Extended Outage

My ARC will be unavailable during scheduled maintenance and upgrades on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. Eastern time until Monday, March 11, 2013, at 7:00 a.m. During this time, access to My ARC and all My ARC applications will be unavailable. We will restore access to My ARC and all tools on Monday, March 11 at 7:00 a.m.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause your organization; however, this system downtime is required to perform necessary database maintenance and upgrades. Please plan accordingly.


NEW! Best Practices to Help Prevent Unauthorized Ticketing

Fraud costs the travel industry billions of dollars annually. In collaboration with the GDSs, ARC has published a new best practices guide for preventing unauthorized or stolen ticketing fraud. This new guide is just one of many ways in which ARC helps educate agents on how to stop fraud before it happens and how to respond to it when it does.

The document, Unauthorized/Stolen Ticketing: An Overview and Best Practices for Prevention, is located on My ARC. To access the guide, log in to My ARC. Once logged into My ARC, look for the Fraud Prevention portlet. Click on Best Practices then click on Unauthorized/Stolen Ticketing & Phishing Emails. At the very bottom of that section, there is an option to "Download this information as a PDF."

ARC Specialist Training and Certification Class

Do you want the opportunity to earn or renew your ARC Specialist Certificate?

ARC will provide the ARC Specialist Training class at ARC headquarters in Arlington, Va., from March 12 to March 15, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

ARC developed the ARC Specialist Training and Certification program with the help of industry representatives from the travel agent and carrier communities. This program provides education on ARC's policies, procedures, products and services. In class, you will participate in written and verbal exercises as well as group discussions. Upon completion of the class, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. Those who pass the exam will receive an ARC Specialist Certificate.

Tip of the Week: Error Message: INVALID COMMISSION - EXCEEDS MAXIMUM AMOUNT ALLOWED

Please note that the maximum commission amount allowed on any document in IAR is $9,999.99. Any time the commission exceeds the $9,999.99 limit, you will receive an error message: INVALID COMMISSION - EXCEEDS MAXIMUM AMOUNT ALLOWED.

This information may be especially helpful for agencies that process large group deposits for tickets by issuing carrier-validated miscellaneous charge orders (MCOs). If collecting more commission for a transaction than IAR allows, you must split the single transaction into multiple transactions.

For example, if you issue a group deposit with a $90,000 MCO and your commission is supposed to be $18,000, you must split the commission into two MCOs (for example, in half), instead of issuing one MCO with $18,000 commission. If you do not wish to split a transaction into multiple MCOs to accommodate the commission limits in IAR, you must process the transaction(s) with the carrier directly.
