Seaborne Airlines Joins ARC

Seaborne Airlines (BB/376-5) has joined ARC as a participating carrier effective with sales on October 1 (PED October 7, 2012).

With headquarters in Christiansted, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, Seaborne Airlines operates domestic schedules from San Juan to Vieques, Puerto Rico; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas; and Christiansted. Seaborne Airlines operates Twin Otters and will be operating SAAB 340 in December 2012.

Seaborne Airlines has elected the General Concurrence method of agent appointment, whereby all ARC agents are automatically appointed as agents of Seaborne Airlines. Seaborne Airlines accepts cash as the only form of payment through ARC.

Royal Air Maroc Accepts American Express

Effective with sales issued on October 1 (PED October 7, 2012), Royal Air Maroc (147/AT) will begin accepting American Express as a form of payment through ARC.


Quarterly Transaction Fees - Third Quarter 2012

This is a reminder about the agent/CTD transaction fee that is assessed on a quarterly basis. In 2012, the quarterly fee is set at $.017 per transaction. An agency reporting an aggregate of less than 1,000 transactions per quarter will not be assessed a transaction fee. The maximum number of transactions for which an agency can be charged in a quarter is 2.25 million transactions (per entity). A separate debit representing this fee will be drawn against your ARC designated bank account on or after October 18. Only one draft will be issued for consolidated drafting agents.


Opening the Void Window for Memos and AADs

Based on your feedback, you may now void an Adjustment Memo or Agent Automated Deduction (AAD) at any point prior to sales report authorization instead of being held to the standard void window that applies to sales, exchanges and refunds. This IAR update should help you to correct a mistake discovered after a debit memo, credit memo, recall commission statement or AAD has already been entered into IAR. Some common mistakes that occur when entering a memo or AAD into IAR include:

  • Keying an incorrect dollar amount
  • Keying an incorrect memo number or airline
  • Entering under the wrong ARC number
  • Entering into the incorrect sales report PED

Tip of the Week: Using the IAR Exchange Adjustment Field

The Adjustment field on the IAR Exchange Summary screen is an IAR-only shortcut that can be used to either increase or decrease the value of an exchange in your sales report. For example, when an old document is exchanged for a new document of lesser value and the airline does not allow the difference to be refunded back to the customer or transferred to an MCO, you may enter the difference in the Adjustment field to create an even exchange.

Any amount entered in the Adjustment field has the same effect as changing the penalty amount. Using the Adjustment field saves you the step of moving back to the Exchange Support screen to change the Admin/Penalty field. When the exchange is reported to the carrier, the Adjustment and Admin/Penalty fields are combined together as a single penalty amount.

It is not possible to automatically populate the Adjustment field from a GDS entry because there is no GDS or carrier equivalent field. If you know that exchanging a fully unused ticket will result in a non-refundable, non-transferable "use-it-or-lose-it" balance, you can simply add that balance to the penalty amount before issuing the exchange and the transaction will interface to IAR with the correct total exchange value.
