Processing Lufthansa Group's "OB" Carrier Fee in IAR

UPDATE: "OB" Charges will not be collected as of 02NOV11 by Lufthansa Group as previously communicated.

The Lufthansa Group, which includes:

  • Austrian Airlines (OS/257)
  • bmi British Midland International (BD/236
  • Brussels Airlines (SN/082)
  • Lufthansa (LH/220)
  • SWISS (LX/724)

has specified that an "OB" Carrier Fee will be charged for every ticket paid for with a credit card where travel commences in one of the following countries:

  • Belgium
  • Finland
  • Germany
  • The Netherlands
  • United Kingdom
  • Switzerland

This charge is identified with a 2-character indicator of "OB", similar to a tax code and is classified as a "Carrier Fee", as established in industry resolutions. Although this is the first use of a Carrier Fee for processing in ARC's system, there are other possible Carrier Fees that carriers may choose to implement, including:

  • OA - Fee related to Booking
  • OC - Fee related to Service
  • OB - Fee related to Ticketing
  • OD - Fee related to Penalty
  • XP - PTA service charge (applicable only to EMDs)

What this means to IAR users:

ARC will process a Carrier Fee as if it is a tax and that amount will be included in the tax and ticket totals. Should a Carrier Fee be non-refundable, the following processes are available:

  • For a Full Refund processed without using a GDS auto-repricing tool :
    Manually remove any non-refundable Carrier Fee in IAR
  • For a Full Exchange processed without using a GDS auto-repricing tool :
    Include any non-refundable Carrier Fee amount as a penalty (in addition to any other penalty that may be applicable to the transaction)

This manual adjustment for full refunds/exchanges in IAR is necessary because IAR is designed to require the full return of all fares, taxes/fees/charges whenever a full refund or full exchange is processed without use of a GDS auto-repricing system.

Accreditation Year End Schedule

As the year end approaches, ARC would like to inform you of our year end processing schedule.
ARC will be closed on the following days:

  • November 24 & 25, 2011
  • December 23 & 26, 2011
  • January 2, 2012

ARC will be unable to honor any requests for expedited service during this time. Additionally, we will be modifying our application approval window through the end of the year.

Please find below the cut off dates for the specific application types. Note that the deadlines and approval dates only apply to applications received in good order. Applications that contain missing or incomplete information are not considered to be in good order and therefore will not be processed within the outlined timeframes.

International AirLink to Join ARC

International AirLink (434-0/ I4) has joined ARC as a participating carrier with sales effective on October 31, 2011.

With headquarters in Montego Bay, Jamaica; AirLink operates domestic scheduled flights between Montego Bay and Negril as well as charter flights within Jamaica including: Ocho Rios (Boscobel), Kingston and Port Antonio

AirLink has been transporting passengers between Montego Bay and Negril, including guests of the major resorts such as; Couples Resorts, Sandals Resorts, Riu, Breezes, Beaches, Hedonism, Caves and Goldeneye to name several. AirLink provides connection to and from Negril through Montego Bay from all the major airlines namely: American Airlines, Delta, Air Jamaica/CAL, Spirit, Air Transat, United Airlines, Frontier, Sunwing, Allegiant, USA 3000, Jetblue, Continental, Thomas Cook, Miami Air, Westjet, Condor, Sky Service, British Airways, Virgin, Air Canada, Martinair, Canjet, Sun Country and US Airways.

Effective with sales issued on Monday, October 31, 2011 (PED 11/06/11), Vladivostok Air (277/XF) will begin accepting Visa and MasterCard as forms of payments through ARC.

Tip of the Week - ARC Document Ordering System Searches

Did you know that you can search for previous ticket stock orders in the Document Ordering System? To search for previous ticket stock orders, follow the steps below:

  • Log into My ARC
  • Open the Document Ordering System by clicking on the link located under Your Tools
  • On the left side of the Home Page, click the Order Status button.
  • Select an option from the Search By drop down menu.
  • Click the All Orders radio button.
  • Enter appropriate information in the Search Criteria field.
  • Click the Search button.

Please remember that regular searches will go back 45 days. For searches up to two years, you must go to the Advanced Search screen by clicking on the Advanced Search link.
