Tunisair Joins ARC

Tunisair (TU/199) has joined ARC as a participating carrier, effective with sales on November 2, 2009 (PED 11/08/09).

Established in 1948, Tunisair is the national flag carrier of the Republic of Tunisia. Headquartered in Tunis-Carthage, Tunisair operates scheduled service between Tunisia and 44 destinations, spanning 28 countries within North and West Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

Tunisair operates a fleet of 30 Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and is displayed in Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre.

Tunisair is offering a 5% sales commission on published fares to all ARC-accredited agents.

Tunisair has elected the General Concurrence method of agent appointment whereby all ARC agents are automatically appointed as agents of Tunisair unless specifically advised to the contrary by the carrier. At this time, Tunisair accepts cash as the only valid form of payment through ARC.

ARC Scheduled Maintenance Postponed

Scheduled network maintenance (which was expected to take place on November 1 limiting access to various ARC systems for approximately 9 hours) was cancelled. This is expected to be rescheduled and will be announced in the near future.

XA (Agricultural Inspection Fee) Tax Increase Withdrawn

The US Department of Agriculture has withdrawn its recently published interim rule, which would have raised the current Agricultural Inspection Fee (XA) from $5.00 to $5.50, effective November 1, 2009. The USDA did not announce if or when the tax will be changed or increased.

New ARC Specialist Question Pool for Testing

Effective November 1, 2009, a new ARC Specialist Question and Answer Pool is being used for the ARC Specialist examination. The new ARC Specialist Question and Answer Pool can be found here on the ARC Specialist training page.

Tip of the Week: Online Help

When working in the My ARC, ARC Document Retrieval Service (DRS), IAR, or Memo Manager you can find help online.

To access the online help, click on 'Help' in the upper right corner of the main blue-gray area. This will open up a new window with the first topic relevant to that screen. If the task you want to perform is not listed, click 'Show' in the upper left corner for the entire Help File listing.

Once you open the expanded view, you can:

  • browse the Table of Contents
  • search an index of keywords
  • perform a general search

To access the different features, click on the 'Table,' 'Index,' 'Search,' or 'Glossary' buttons in the upper left corner.

To browse the Table of Contents, click on the 'Table' button. On the left side bar, click on the page or book icon to view topic.

To search the Index, click on the 'Index' button. Type topic you want to view. Click on topic from the list on the left side bar to view topic.

To perform a general Search, click on the 'Search' button. Type the topic you want to view, click on 'Go' and then click on the topic from the results list on the left side bar.
