ARC Carrier e-Ticketing Policies and Practices Update

ARC-processed travel agency and CTD transactions have reached 98% e-ticketing and ARC participating carriers support for continued e-ticketing growth is broad. While ARC will continue to process paper transactions as needed, on an individual basis, carriers have asked ARC to communicate their specific policies with respect to e-ticketing. Please see e-ticketing news from specific carriers and their policies and practices below:

Caribbean Airlines (BW/106)

Effective immediately, Caribbean Airlines' worldwide policy will only permit issuance of electronic tickets (ET).

Aegean Airlines (A3/390) and Bangkok Airways (PG/829)

Effective June 1, 2008, Aegean Airlines and Bangkok Airways will only permit issuance of electronic tickets (ET). Both carriers will be instructing GDSs to restrict issuance of any paper tickets.

Tip of the Week: Carrier Manual Document Acceptance Chart

ARC publishes a Carrier Manual Document Acceptance Chart that denotes specific carrier acceptance of manual traffic documents. The chart identifies any carrier restrictions regarding issuance and acceptance of manual documents.

Agents should refer to the chart to ensure that a ticketing carrier's instructions with respect to Manual Traffic Document Acceptance are satisfied. Although ARC continues to process all sales reported by an accredited agent or CTD, failure to issue a traffic document in accordance with the policy of the individual ticketing carrier may result in action being taken by that carrier (e.g. debit memo) or may adversely affect the ticketing carrier's ability to render service to your clients.

The chart is found in Section 5.1 of the Industry Agents' Handbook (IAH) online at

Please distribute the ARC TAC among staff and colleagues.
